What Women’s Kickboxing Classes in Victoria Can Help With?

Right now, it’s actually a pretty exciting time in the world of martial arts. A lot of publicity and interest has been generated by mixed marital arts competitions and that has caused martial arts in general to evolve and improve, in many regards. Another trend, however, has been less helpful to some students. While women’s kickboxing classes in Victoria are still available, there are an increasing number of schools that are moving toward an MMA model, which is not what everyone’s looking for by any means.

Women’s kickboxing classes in Victoria aren’t all MMA oriented. Some of them are more traditional, focusing on building fitness and teaching self-defense at the same time. Most MMA dojos are very much focused on the fighting aspect of the arts that they tech. This makes sense: most of their students are competitors. At Women’s kickboxing classes in Victoria, that atmosphere isn’t prevalent. There’s nothing lacking about kickboxing as self-defense, however. In fact, it’s one of the basic elements of fighting that MMA fighters study intensively. They just study it in a different kind of school.

Quite often, women want to learn a bit of self-defense, but don’t want to engage in no-holds-barred fighting in their school. The good news is that you don’t have to. In fact, most self-defense classes don’t concentrate on having students actually use the techniques they teach in sparring. Those techniques are not made for competition and it would be impossible to use them in free fighting without injuring someone.

Some Women’s kickboxing classes in Victoria don’t even require sparring. Kickboxing is actually a great solo sport. Even if you’re not fighting or sparring with it, you’ll learn great balance, your cardio fitness will usually end up going through the roof compared to where it starts for most students and your muscles will tighten up considerably. Kickboxing tends to build a lean, muscular and healthy frame.

MMA is a great martial arts development. It’s not the only type of training available, however, nor is it the most useful type of training for everyone. Kickboxing classes that don’t emphasize actually fighting in the school and self-defense classes are not incompatible and, if you sign up for kickboxing, the level of physical fitness that you might get to is actually a self-defense benefit in its own right. You don’t have to take a rough-and-tumble class to be effective at defending yourself.
